High performance features include single or dual Intel second generation Quad-Core Xeon processors, up to 12GB fully-buffered system memory with error correction, and dual copper gigabit Ethernet connectivity. The 1602nz is optimized for performance as a unified file and block serving appliance with file de-duplication.

This fault-tolerant data storage comes in a convenient, space-saving 2U Rackmount chassis with hot-swappable drives and trays, redundant 650 Watt hot-swappable 1+1 power supply, and an advanced cooling system. Your data is protected with your choice of RAID 0, 1, 1E, 5, 5EE, 6, 10, 50, 60 and JBOD across sixteen hot-swappable SATA/SAS disk drives on a high-performance RAID controller.

Installation and setup are a breeze, allowing the FlexStor-NAS 1602nz to be up and running in about 15 minutes after it is mounted in your rack or cabinet. Additional software, including backup client or server applications, may be loaded on the NAS appliance via its integrated DVD-ROM drive.

It also includes Volume Shadow Copy Service which makes storage and back up easier, while reducing demands on system administrators. Volume Shadow Copy technology enables you to retrieve old copies of deleted files right from your Windows desktop.
